The Fourth Bride
by Carole Gill

CaroleGill_TheFourthBrideThis is the second edition of The Fourth Bride, published by Creativia.

A few words from readers:
5/5 STARS:  Just as great as the first one in this series! I really enjoy the characters in the books.-  Anna Voyles

5/5 STARS: The story is full of twists and turns I didn’t see coming and have to say this is dark Gothic fiction at it’s best. Be prepared for eroticism and violence along with twisted vampiric love. – Michelle Wright

The other brides are to be her sisters, and they are all to love and feed upon one another. As her master says: “The joy is in the blood…the passion is in the blood…endless life is in the blood…!”

Women in Horror Month Author Nikki Hopeman – Habeas Corpse

Habeas Corpse
by Nikki Hopeman

NikkiHopeman_HabeasCorpse“Dexter meets Deadite in Nikki Hopeman’s HABEAS CORPSE — and what a treat this novel is. It’s rare that a debut novel can reignite a subgenre, but Nikki Hopeman’s book just might be the most clever zombie story to hit the shelves in quite some time. Hopeman writes a book with brains, in every way: fun and funny, gory and glorious, this witty tale of an undead ‘Riser’ who bends his unique talents toward investigating crime has single-handedly resurrected my interest in brain-sucking freaks. Such a clever premise. I can’t wait to read her next one… but till then I think I’ll happily just read this one again!” – Michael Arnzen, Bram Stoker Award-winning author of PLAY DEAD

“If George Romero had created CSI, the result might have been something like Nikki Hopeman¹s HABEAS CORPSE. A cross-genre blend of mystery, horror, and urban fantasy, with strong characterization and razor-sharp prose. I loved it! – Tim Waggoner, author of BONE WHISPERS

When a series of grisly murders terrorizes the Steel City, Theo-an undead “Riser” working as a forensic technician for the Pittsburgh police-decides to use his dark gift to hunt the killer. He finds a partner in his only friend, Dr. Henry Libitin, but Theo’s unique talent of experiencing the victims’ last moments comes with a shocking price.

Women in Horror Month Author Carol MacAllister – The Blackmoor Tales

The Blackmoor Tales
by Carol MacAllister

CarolMacAllister_TheBlackmoorTales

In Blackmoor, time runs differently. Each period spirals and intertwines with the next. Hideous beings from times forgotten and places unnamed slip across dimensions to hunt among the living, stealing innocence and culling blood for insatiable appetites. Prayers and candles, fortitude and cunning, heavy latched doors and shuttered panels offer no protection.

Eleven dark tales of fantasy and horror draw the town of Blackmoor before the reader’s eyes. These shivery tales range from short fiction to novella-length, with transitions in dark poetic verse between the stories.

The characters range from Lovecraftian creatures that stalk man in remote swamps, to flesh-eating monsters roaming the countryside. Blood-culling grotesques, demons disguised in childhood rhymes, psychological and physical vampires and zombies abound. Souls are lured and corralled at Blackmoor’s Inn for malevolent entertainment, and interplanetary intrusions torment and harvest mortals. The physical settings include remote swamps, burial grounds, fairytale landscapes, a clearing ringed by blood-culling pines, caves that touch the ocean, a willow-strewn river, and an Inn laced with ghastly evil. Remember the old Celtic warning: From goulies and ghosties and long-leggedy beasties, and things that go bump in the night, Good Lord, deliver us!
