The Face You See
by Elizabeth H. Smith
The face of change, of transformation, of rebirth, it glows with renewal born from the greatest tragedy. It was always beneath the flesh, waiting to be unveiled in patient reverence. It tears through its barrier, emerges from its shell, unsheathed from its carapace in its full and unrepentant glory. It cares not for the mask it wore, or its bearer. Its own means are all-consuming, a compulsion it cannot ignore. Whether for good or evil, it will engage fully with the reality with which it is presented and choose a blind eye to all else. With great focus it will seek that which woke it from its slumber, who has brought it forth to be seen. However thankful it may be to come into the light, vengeance is an undeniable end for whoever caused its emergence.
