Cuddly Wumpus
by A.F. Stewart
I found him in the dustbin, my little Cuddly Wumpus. A sad rag doll, one eye missing, and a few tufts of yarn for hair. Someone broke his small lace-trimmed heart; the nasty red pins stabbed in its center showed that. But he was special. I knew it the moment I saw him. Special like me. I knew we’d be great friends.
The last people who cared for him didn’t understand. He told me how they used him and then abandoned him when he wouldn’t do what they wanted. Imagine, thinking my Cuddly Wumpus was a mere curse doll. Sticking pins in idols is the stuff of fiction and films.
After I fixed him, cleaned him and mended his heart, Cuddly Wumpus was ever so grateful. He found his forever home, with someone who saw his worth. I take care of him properly. He is my friend, my protector, my familiar.
We were made for each other; two wicked souls together. He whispers such wonderful things in my ear at night. Says I can start killing again. He won’t let them catch me this time. I won’t have to go back to the asylum.
Oh, yes. I like that. We’ll have such fun, just me and my Cuddly Wumpus.

Aw, what a sweet story about a girl and her little dolly. Good one, flat out wicked fun!
I love this – a cute parcel of sheer wickedness – brilliant!
