The True Story of Gretel

Come and see
Why not have a taste?
Tantalising sweet treats
Sugary scented clouds
Go on, have a try
That one was made just for you
Each one unique
Each one a different design
There you see,
Didn’t I tell you
Now wasn’t that good?
You look a little pale
All of a sudden
Oh dear, don’t you worry
Come in through
To my back room
There’s a good little girl
Now why don’t you lie down
Next to the other greedy little
Girls and boys to rest
I will come get you when the oven is ready…

Delightfully wicked.
Ooh I didn’t realise I’d missed your poem – love it – such a spare retelling of an old and wicked story
