A Chilling Thrill
by Melissa R. Mendelson
I blinded them with illusion,
luring them to stay.
I tempted their hearts,
whispering that love would never fade away.
I fed their dreams
until their dreams would burst,
and I granted their every desire,
their every thirst.
I ran calm across their minds,
quieting their storms
until little dolls they became,
cattle for my farms.
Then, I marched them into the water
and shuddered at their drowning cry.
Oh, how that sound completed me,
such ecstasy as they died.

Better Off Here
We always look to the greener pastures, thinking our lives would be so much better over there, but if we were over there, what if all we wanted was to go back? Instead, we found ourselves trapped with the darker side to our fears.
I love this. Exquisitely woven.
