Hallucination House
by Amy Zoellers
Hallucination House
(tripping near)
(gripping fear)
(passing by)
(shrieking cry)
(wish to die)
Through the trees, the monsters fly.
Safe inside
witches hide,
sweep the floor
and charm the door.
Corpses shake
with hair blown wild.
Cookies bake
for the devil’s child.
Pass this way
cold and gray
You’ll never see another day.

This would make a perfect Burma Shave series, adding only “The way is paved/ with Burma Shave” — anyone know of the signs across the USA in the 40’s or 50’s?
Good show!
Excellently delightful and creepy.
Love the pace of this poem and how it ramps up the creep factor while skipping along as sweetly as any red-caped child playing in the forest 🙂
