The Ladies of Horror
Picture-Prompt Writing Challenge!
Breathe
by Alex Grehy
Cut
Don’t cut
Orangutan
begged
with
her
eyes,
despairing
Uncaring, I
destroyed
her
forest
home.
Consume
Don’t consume
Protesters
begged
with
placards.
Mindless, I
devoured
more.
Fall
Don’t fall
I begged
the
ghosts
of
trees
for
more
air.
Vengeful,
they
dropped
me
into
the
polluted
depths.
Breathe
Don’t breathe
Can’t breathe

Good one, Alex! Point made in a chilling fashion. Heights freak me out.
I’m not good with heights either – it was quite the prompt!
A terrific poem.
