The Ladies of Horror
Picture-Prompt Writing Challenge!
Denial
by Ela Lourenco
Gentle waves lap at the shore
My footsteps imprinting in the fast cooling sand
A soft breeze of salt and seaweed
Encircle me in a mist
As the golden sun sinks into the sea.
All is quiet
Except for the symphony of the water
Interspersed by the odd squawk of a gull
The turquoise horizon has turned indigo now
Softly highlighting the flickering stars.
I am alone
No one to bother me
No one to interrupt this peace of mine
I alone escaped my family’s slaughter
I am now alone for the end of all time.
