He Rises
by Marge Simon
At the edge of the Event Horizon
just ahead of dawn’s fingers, he rises;
there is blood on his tongue.
.
A star’s white shadow spills
across his sidereal passage,
a creature out of time.
.
Already he hungers,
insatiable, his mind afire
with inhuman desires.
.
Don’t breathe his dark perfume,
by happenstance a thousand years
too soon; in his mighty passion,
.
he would consume your soul,
own you in terrible dreams.
Beware, he rises.
