Picture-Prompt Writing Challenge!

Hidden Figures
by Marge Simon
There are three of them.
Tall shadows fading in and out of view
Before your eyes.
.
Thin & long
you discover them
when a shaft of a streetlight
pushes them away
.
They’re still there
moving back & forth
on the smooth walls just ahead
where only you
see their forms
.
You know you can
make them jump
if you want
.
With practice
you can have them
do more
maybe something
dangerous
maybe worse
.
wait for a passerby
extend your hand.

Cast from Darkness
by
Cast from Darkness is another triumphant collaboration between award-winning Speculative poets, Marge Simon and Mary Turzillo.
The poetry includes themes running the spectrum of the speculative genres and forms ranging from the haiku through many nuances of vere libre to the prose poem.

A stellar poem.
Thank you, Anita!
Love it – great interpretation of the prompt and oh-so tempting to have a shadow to do all the things your living self is too timid to do.
