Timeless Love

My breath freezes as I exhale

In this ice house that I call home

There are logs aplenty and a fireplace

But I will not light it

The time is not yet come.

I hum gently as I rock in my chair

My tune is a lullaby in the frozen night air.

My beloved sits beside me

Without sound nor move

His touch is ice cold

But that will change soon.

The time we have left is short

Soon he will thaw and decay

But his body will ever be mine

He can no longer get away…
