Limbo

Frozen, trapped in this realm where there are no yesterdays or tomorrows – where time is meaningless. It has always been thus. Black tendrils of noxious gases encircle my translucent body, chaining me to an eternity of penance. Penance for a sin I cannot remember.

I remember little – was I born here? Sometimes I have flashes as though some long forgotten memories were bubbling out of my brain, trying to fight their way to the surface. How long have I been here? A minute? An eternity? I don’t even remember my own name…
